It was the China’s eleventh appearance at the Summer Olympics since its presentation in 1952. The initial service banner conveyors for China are volleyball player Zhu Ting and taekwondoin Zhao Shuai. Runner Su Bingtian, who broke the Asian record of 100m during the Games, is the banner conveyor for the end service. The designation contended in all games aside from baseball (softball), handball, and surfing.

China completed the Game with 88 decorations, 38 of them gold, an improvement of their past presentation at the last Olympics of 70 awards and 26 gold, which moved it up to the runner up in general decoration remaining from the third spot it involved at the Rio Games. China state media hence incorporated the decorations won by Hong Kong and Taiwan, despite the fact that the two of them have their own different NOCs
